ateljé Lyktan & Artek
Starting from Spring 2012, ateljé Lyktan is collaborating with the Finnish furniture manufacturer Artek, promoting its lighting designs on the Swedish market. Artek will do the same for ateljé Lyktan in Finland.
Since before ateljé Lyktan has agencies/distributors in Sweden for the Italian brand Lumina and the German brands Bega and Boom, but this is the first time a mutual cooperation initiates. Like ateljé Lyktan, Artek has its roots in Scandinavian modernism. It was founded by designer Alvar and Aino Aalto, together with Maire Gullichsen and Nils-Gustav Hahl in 1935. Primarily famous for it’s bent-wood furniture its lighting designs are also part of design history with many of Alvar Aalto’s lights still being made and promoted.
The two companies share very similar trajectories and are now, soon 80 years after their humble beginnings, still major players in their native markets and beyond.
